How does Botox® and Dysport work?

What should I expect with treatment?

Side effects from Botox® and Dysport, if any, are usually mild and temporary. Botulinum, the primary component of Botox®, contains proteins that, in rare circumstances, may be naturally safeguarded against by the body’s ability to produce antibodies. If antibodies are formed, the therapy will generate a lesser response. Temporary bruising is sometimes experienced but usually resolves within two to three days. In rare cases, there can be a slight asymmetry of expression and change in the shape of the brows. If this should happen, return to our office for evaluation and correction.
